【教材分析】
本节课是人教版新目标英语八年级第八单元的阅读内容，本单元以“How do you make a banana milk shake?”为话题，本节的阅读材料是关于美国感恩节以及感恩节的传统食物-火鸡的制作过程。
【学情分析】
经过孩子们初中一年多的时间的学习，相信他们已经有了一定的英语学习基础，包括词汇基础，语法知识，阅读技巧与方法，写作技巧等。希望通过本节课的学习，不仅让孩子们掌握到一些新的词汇，结构以及一些阅读技巧，更能够体会食物所寄托的感情意义，感恩我们现在的美好生活。

通过相关材料和教师引导，能够在阅读前猜测文章主要内容。
通过略读文章，能够总结两部分主旨大意，学会略读技能。
通过细读文章，完成相关练习和思维导图并能够复述课文。
