          Topic 3 How can I get to the library?

Section A

The main activity is 1a.

Ⅰ. Teaching aims and demands :

1. Learn some new words and expressions:

along,turn, crossing, meter, across, bridge, until, left, across from

2. Learn preposition:

across from, between...and, near, on , on the corner of

3.(1)Ask the way:

Excuse me, is there a bank near here?

Excuse me, how can I get to the library?

Excuse me, which is the way to the hospital?

(2)Give directions:

Go up Xinhua Street to the end, and you’ll find it on your left.

Go along Xinhua street and turn right at the first crossing.

It’s about twenty meters along on the left.

Go along Xinhua street and turn left at the second crossing

Go across the bridge.

It’s on your right.

Step 1  Review  

 

1.老师出示一张郑州的图片,通过师生互动,导出今天要学的新课。

(1)T: Look out of the window, what a fine day today! Last week, I went to Zhengzhou, do you know Zhengzhou?

Ss:Yes, I do.

T:Zhengzhou is a beautiful city.There are many tall buildings and beautiful flowers.They are so wonderful. I was very happy.But suddenly a terribly thing happened. I lost my way. What can I do? I Asked someone for help.I asked someone the way.When you are new here,you don’t know the way ,you can ask someone the way.today we will learn how to ask the way.

 2.老师出示一张十字路口的图片。

T:What is it?

Ss:It is a crossing.

 3.老师出示几张桥的图片。

T:What is it?

Ss:It is a bridge.

T:Look at the man, what is he doing? 

Ss: He is walking.

T:Does he go across the bridge?

Ss:Yes, he does.

T:Does he turn left?

Ss:Yes, he does.

T:Does he turn right?

Ss:Yes, he does.

 go across the bridge   turn left    turn right   

呈现新的介词短语,为下一步进行交际提供帮助。

4.呈现多幅简单的地图,让学生们掌握以下几个短语。

a. Example: (图略)

通过短语的熟悉和操练,克服下一步听力所造成的障碍,为学生更好掌1a做铺垫。

b.学生可以重复老师的指令更熟悉指明方向的句型。

Example: You want to go to the bank. You can say "Go up Xinhua Street to the end. and you’ll find it on your left."

      T: Excuse me, which is the way to the bank?

Ss: Sorry, I don't know. I'm new here.

T: Thank you all the same!

  T: Excuse me, is there a bank near here?

  Ss: Go along Xinhua street and turn right at the first crossing.

      T: Thank you very much!

     利用地图和A、B、C三种问路形式进行操练,自然地过渡到下一步。


Step 2  Presentation  

 

1.设置听力任务,让学生带着任务听录音。

  T: Listen to 1a and match the pictures with the correct sentences.

听录音,回答问题。

  T: Look at the board, I am here.I want to get to the bank, but I don’t know the way. Excuse  me, is there a bank near here?

2.将1a中的对话出示在白板上,呈现1a,为下一步学生不看课本自由对话打下基础。


Step 3  Consolidation  

 

1.老师放1a录音,让学生跟读。

T: Follow the tape .

  2.Work in groups.

四个人一个小组,在小组里学习对话。找出重点句型和知识点。

  3.老师和学生共同展示找到的重点句型和知识点。

Excuse me, is there a bank near here?

Excuse me, how can I get to the library?

Excuse me, which is the way to the hospital?

呈现关键词: 学生两人一组表演1a。

T: Work in pairs. Close your book, look at the board and act the dialog out.

 

Step 4  Practice 

 

1.出示地图,利用地图回答问题。

T: If you are standing at A and want to go somewhere. Please make up new conversations with your partner.

Ss: ...

出示图片,练习一些介词短语。

across from, between...and, near, on , on the corner of

T: Look at the picture, where is the park?

Ss: There is a park between the bank and the restaurant.

T: Where is the restaurant ?

Ss: The restaurant is on Zhongshan Road, near the bridge.

T: Where is the library?

Ss: The library is on the corner of Xinhua street and Zhongshan Road.

 ...

3.让学生听录音,做2b。

T: Listen and find the way to Jane’s home.

学生听录音,填空,并核对答案。

 

Step 5  Project 

 

1.出示本校的平面图,学生利用学过的问路的句型,来熟悉校园

环境,热爱自己的校园。

Example:(1)A: How can I get to...?

B: It's...

(2)A: Excuse me. Is there a...?

B: Yes, there is...

A: How can I get to...?

B: Go along...

(3)A: Excuse me, which is the way to...?

B: Sorry, I don't know.

A: Thank you all the same!

 2. Homework: 

  (1)Suppose you are standing at A in the picture. Make up new conversations of asking the way and giving directions. And then write them down.

    (2)Preview Section B.
