Unit 1  Hello !

 

Part A

 

Teaching Aims

1.    To get the knowledge of how to say Hello when you meet friends.

2.    Students can express himself/herself correctly using English.

3.    Students get more interest in learning English.

Teaching key points

1.    Students can use “Hello, I’m…” to communicate with each other.

2.    Students can express himself/herself fluently using certain sentence.

Teaching Aids: Cards, Computer.

Teaching Procedure

1.    Warming up

Divide students into two groups: boys are group 1 and girls are group 2 and who wins can get flowers. Free talk. Ask students what they know about English. Maybe some simple letters or words: TV, OK, Hi…

2.    Presentation

<1>Play the song “Hello”. Then teacher say Hello and introduce himself using “Hello, I’m…”

<2>Teacher wears a card with Sarah, then introduce herself like “Hello, I’m Sarah”. Teacher should use gestures. Introduce other characters in the same way.

<3>Ask students to the blackboard to introduce themselves.

<4>Present “Let’s talk” through computer.

3.    Practice

<1>Ask students to act the dialogue. Pay attention to the pronunciation of I’m.

<2>Play game “Who are you?” Teacher plays the music and students pass the flower. When music stops, the student who with the flower should introduce himself using “Hello, I’m…”

4.    Assessment

<1>Discuss which group wins more flowers.

<2>Play the record, then do exercises.

5.    Activities

<1>Listen to the tape and act.

<2>Use Hello/Hi when meeting teachers, classmates or parents.
