Unit 9  What does he look like ?

The First Period  Section A (1a-2d)

教材分析

本单元以描述人的外貌为话题,让学生学会谈论人的身高、体重、发型、面部特征及着装特点,整个单元以人的外貌特征为主线,兼顾交际功能的学习,以一种循序渐进的学习程序,引导学生学会用英语介绍自己或他人的外貌。本单元的学习内容贴近实际生活,易激发学生运用简单的英语进行交际和交流,在学习活动中,学生能通过交换对不同人物的描述及看法,促进生生之间和师生之间的情感交流

 

教学目标

知识与技能

1. Master the key words and sentences

Key words:  curly ,straight,tall,medium,height,thin,heavy,tonight,a little,cinema,glass,later

Sentences: -- Is that your friend ?

-- No,it isn’t

 

           -- What does he look like ? Is he short or tall ?

           -- Well,he is really tall

              She is of medium height ,and she haslong straight hair

Step 1 Warm-up

1.Greetings

2.Revision  check the homework and have a dictation

Step 2 Presentation

1. Teach the new words .

The teacher show  some   photos  of famous people on the screen  and  use the sentence stracture to  ask the Ss like this ,

Look !  What does he/she look like ? The Ss answer :He/She is short and has curly /straight(Teach : short ,curly,straight),Then the teacher use the oher phtos to  ask like this “What does he /she look like ?”(teach other words :tall,short,medium height,heavy,thin,straight hair ,curly and so on )

2. Teach Activity 1a

Point out the numbered list of words in 1a and let students read the list of the words after the teacher.

Call attention to the picture .Point to the letters next to the people in the picture .

Give the students two minutes to match the people in the picture with one of the numbered words .then check the answers .  

3. Teach Activity 1b

Call attention to the speech bubbles in the picture and read the names and let students finish 1b .(使用班班通播放)

Play the recording the first time  .students just listen .

Play the recording for a second time ,students fill in the blanks in the speech bubbles . Check the answers .

Ask students to listen to and read after the recording

4. Teach Activity 1c

Lead students to read the example conversation .then explain some language points.

5. Pairwork  put students into pairs to talk about the people’s looks in the picture (use the target languange ) then invite several pairs to act out

Step 3 Practice

1 Listening (Activity 2a and 2b)

Make students know what to do and how to do this part

Play the recording twice student finish the task

Check the answers

2.Pairwork (Activity 2c)

Let students to read the dialogue in the speech bubbles .

Put students into pairs  ask and answer the questions about the people in the charu in 2b .Finally, invite two pairs to act out

Step 4 Consolidation

Give students time to read through the conversation to get the main idear .then lead the stuednts to read it together ,explain alanguage point at the same time .  put on 与wear  

Put students into groups to rolr-play the conversation .

Step 5 Summary

In this period,we’ve learnt how to ask about and describe people’s looks .we have learnt the new words and the target languages

Step 6 Homework

Recite the new words and write three sentences about people’s looks

教学反思

本节课是引入课,通过图文及听力材料给学生提供了充足的听力和口头练习,帮助学生掌握描述人物外貌的词汇,并学会运用这些词汇句型描述人物外貌。本来学生对has和 is的搭配不太熟悉,通过大量的听和写的练习,学生基本掌握了其正确用法。从这节课的练习来看,学生掌握得不错,实现了预期的教学目标。
