Unit 3 Weddings教学设计 北师大版必修1
Teaching aims:
By the end of the lesson , the students will be able to :
(1) learn some new words about weddings.
(2) learn weddings inIndonesiaandGreece.
(3) learn to summarize and retell the texts.
(4) practice using modals: have to / don’t have to, can/can’t, ought to/ ought not to
(5) form a sense of intercultural communication.
Teaching methods:
Task-based method; individual
pair/ group- work.
Teaching aids:
Blackboard; multi-media; tape- recorder.
Teaching procedures:
Stage I. Greeting and lead-in.
Enjoy music（Wedding March）and introduce the topic.
Stage 2. Pre-reading.
Task : New words learning
Step (1). Show some pictures and elicit the new words:
bride; bridegroom; best man; bridesmaid; match-maker; ceremony; wedding reception.
Step (2). Match the new words to their definitions. (Ex.2.)
Stage 3. While-reading.
Step 1.Fill in the blanks.
Students read the texts carefully and then complete the following table.
Indonesian weddings. (What to do and what not to do in an Indonesian wedding.)
Before wedding ceremony. | You can attend a wedding with your friend even if you don’t receive an invitation. |
During wedding ceremony. | You ought not to go to the ceremony which is only for You can go to the ceremony unless you get a permission first. |
During wedding reception | Everyone can attend the reception after the wedding ceremony. Today, Indonesian brides don’t have to cover their heads, bu You ought to put money into a box at the entrance to the reception. You can’t drink alcohol. |
Greek weddings. (Activities in a Greek wedding.)
Before the wedding ceremony. | The bridegroom has to ask the bride’s father for his daughter’s hand/promise to marry. The bridegroom’s best man should go with the couple to the church. |
During the wedding ceremony. | The best man should help put crowns made of flowers on the heads of the couple. A long silk ribbon that links the crowns is a symbol of a long and happy life for the couple. |
After the wedding ceremony. | A huge party can last through the night with a lot of eating , drinking, and dancing. Guests can throw dishes on the floor and put money on the bride’s wedding dress for good luck. |
