Teaching aims and demands:

   1. To master the new words.

2. To improve students′ ability of grasping the main information of the passage, and improve students′ reading efficiency.

3. To know and understand the infinitive.

4. To encourage students to take part in volunteer work that they can

Teaching importance and difficulties:

1.      Try to understand the meanings of the new words.

2.      Get the specific information from the reading material.

3.      Master the structure of the article.

4.      Know about the function of the infinitive.

Step Lead-in

Introduce myself and show several pictures of my students who are volunteering.

Step Pre-reading

1.      Look at the title and answer the questions:

Do the students work for money or for free?

Are the volunteers young or old?

2.      Look at the pictures and answer:

What kind of work does the boy do?

What kind of work does the girl do

3.      Present the new words of this period ,paraphrase them and give some examples

Listen and read the passage quickly and fill in the form.

    1.Why do they volunteer to help others?
