Teaching Procedures

Step 1 ：Greet and Introduce the learning aims in this class.

 (The Purpose of this step is to make the students know what they will learn in this class. And let them get prepared for the new lesson.)

Step 2 ：Warming-up 

Set two circumstances for students.First, play a song for students“If you are happy” and ask Ss to sing it together. Second, use if clause to show students opinions according to the given pictures.

 (The purpose of this step is to help students pay more attention to the lesson and know what we will learn last . I chose several topics which have close connection with our daily life and use a piece of popular music  to arouse students’ interests in the new lesson and warm them up.)

Step 3 : Presentation 

 Show two pictures of the sunny and rainy days,and ask Ss “What will you do?”and ask Ss to make a new sentence by using “If ..., I will.....”In this progress, some exercises are designed to give students chance to use the language points, to find if they have grasped the key points and make sure they can use them in a proper situation.

Step 4 : Practice 

one: Read some “if clause ”s by themselves and find the rules of conditional adverbial clause. This task provides students some individual time to deal with the key points. They can also take some note while reading the sentences. In this way, students will have time to absorb the new knowledge. 
two: Have a role play to practice the dialogue between A and B.

A and students play B. This is an interaction between the teacher and students. 
ne group plays A and the other plays B. Then Boys play A and girls play B. This is the interaction between group of students.

air work.  Give students five minutes to make their own dialogues according to the given example. Move around the classroom to offer help while they are talking. Then ask some pairs to act their conversations out. In this step Ss’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained. At the same time let the Ss have a chance to practice their listening and speaking. If the Ss can finish this task well, they will benefit a lot in their spoken English.

 Step5: Consolidation and Extension 

Let students work in group of four or six, and give them 8 minutes to do a game “story circle”. First, tell students the rules of the game and show them a model dialogue. Second, ask Ss to read the model dialogue for Ss. Third, ask every group to choose a given topic and make a dialogue by using “if clause”. Finally, invite groups to act their dialogues out. 

（In this activity, I want students to use the conditional adverbial clause to make their own story. So they really have great interests in their talking. And they use more phrases and sentences, this is a good way to extend our learning content. During the activity, students design their conversation together, arrange their roles together, and talk together, so this activity is also a good chance to improve ss’ oral English as well as cooperation study ability.）

Step 6  Summary and Exercises 

I give a whole summary about what we learnt in this class, including the sentence structures and the rules of “if clause ”and so on. Then give students some exercises to do. Exercises are very important both for students and teachers because they can help students use and consolidate what they learn and they can help the teacher to know the learning condition of students 

Step 7  Homework 

My homework for this lesson is that: Our school is taking part in the project “ We can help!”  Write about what you will do if you take part in the project.( write at least 5 sentences)

As we all know, homework is necessary and  important but it’s not easy to control its quality. So we should assign interesting homework to ensure that students want to do it and will do it carefully.

 Teaching reflection

After having this class, Most of them can use the main points to speak and write, and I feel students are more interested in speaking English in class, but some of them make mistakes such as “if you will come to school late, your teacher will be angry with you ” but not “if you come to school late, your teacher will be angry with you”. “will you go to park if it will be fine?” but not “ will you go to park if it is fine?”. That means, some details should be paid more attention to. Therefore, I will focus on detail training of the students.
