Alanis--A True Performer

教材分析:

本课是一篇介绍加拿大著名歌手Alanis的阅读课。内容主要涉及到她在演唱会的经历,风格以及观众的感受。因为文章选取的是学生熟悉的演唱风格及歌手,学生会很感兴趣。本文旨在训练学生快速阅读及整合信息的能力,在教学设计上,从快速提炼信息到细节阅读填表,判断正误,训练学生从猜测词义到深层了解文章的能力。

本课可分为三个课时进行。第一课时主要训练学生阅读技巧,整合和提取信息能力。第二课时主要解决重难点单词及句式结构。第三课时聚焦语法学习。这是第一课时。

学情分析:

学生对于本课内容会很感兴趣,因为本文贴近学生兴趣爱好和风格。而本课的设计环节紧密相扣,层层深入,因而有可能导致部分学生因为基础差,而不能在规定的时间内顺利完成教学目标。

Teaching Aims:

  1.     Knowledge aim

To get familiar with the vocabulary related to music and concert performance.

To read a concert review for specific information.

2.     Ability aim

To foster the students’ reading strategies such as predicting, skimming and scanning.

3.     Moral aim

To encourage the students to be interested in foreign music and concert performance and improve their world awareness.

Teaching important points:

  To improve the students’ reading abilities in predicting the general idea , getting the outline of the passage and making inference.

Teaching methods:

  Task-based learning method; co-operative learning method ; discovering learning method; CLT

Teaching Aids:

  a computer , some hand-outs

Teaching procedures:

Step 1  Greetings

Step 2  Leading in

Task 1  Questions:  Have you ever watched a concert?

What do you think makes a good concert?

(To review some words and expression about music and concert , such as the lighting, the stage design, the special effect, the musical instrument, boring, exciting, extraordinary, etc.)

Task 2  Show an episode of Alanis’ performance and ask how much they know about her.

Step 3  Before-reading

  Task 1  Work out the meanings of the new words on the screen  (to develop their self learning ability and check their preparation work)

Task 2  Predict the author’s attitude towards Alanis

From the title “Alanis- a true performer” we can predict that the author is interested in and in favor of the singer.

Step 7  Self-reflection

This is the first period of Lesson 1, aiming at improving Ss’ reading skills, such as predicting, skimming for main idea, detailed-reading for specific information, and so on. The tasks designed for each part of reading are related closely, which can lead students to deepen their understanding of the passage. The last part is for reporting, in which students participate actively and talks enthusiastically. In all, I think the result is satisfactory.
