A Classroom Story
Class Ⅰ of Machine Design and Building 2017 is a very special class : It consists entirely of boys. As their
English teacher, I found, at the very beginning, the relationships between different boys take relatively
stable forms. Here is one example of them.
Wang Jia and He Yanlong are deskmates. Somehow, the boys were nursing a grudge against each other a
few months ago, and not on speaking terms . As a result, their open hostility towards each other spoiled
the harmony of the classroom atmosphere. So I decided that I must do something to help work towards
something cheerful.
In class, I would frequently crack a joke about one or both of them to make everyone laugh. And very often
I arranged for them to work together and urged them to be nice to each other.
It turned out later my efforts failed to produce anything positive. But still, I think what I did was worthwhile.
