Ⅰ. Teaching aims and demands 教学目标

1. Learn some new words:

create, industry, blood

2. Review direct speech and indirect speech:

  (1) Mrs. Zhou said that she was feeling even worse.

  (2) The journalist asked Mrs. Zhou if/whether she was feeling better then.

(3) The journalist asked what the environment around that place was like.

3. Review some kinds of pollution and the problems caused by them.

Ⅱ. Teaching  procedure:

Step 1  Review

复习噪音污染,巩固Section C。

T:  Is noise a kind of pollution?

Ss: Yes.

T:  What can cause noise pollution?

S1: The machines in some factories.

S2: Planes.

S3: Loud pop music.

S4: Cars.

S5: The traffic.

S6: …

T:  Please list some other kinds of pollution around us.

Ss: Air pollution, light pollution …

T:  OK, this lesson, let’s talk about the harm that the pollution causes.

Step 2  Presentation)

利用图片,设置对话,重现不同种类的污染,导入生词,呈现1a。

1. T:  Many things making loud noise can cause noise pollution. What problems does noise pollution cause?

S1: Noise pollution can cause hearing loss.

S2: It makes people sick or become deaf.

S3: It also makes people uncomfortable and unpleasant.

T:  Yes, too much noise can cause high blood pressure as well.

(教师板书新词并释义,且要求掌握blood;理解pressure。)

2. T: Noise pollution is harmful to people. But it’s not the only kind of pollution in our world. Do you know any other kinds of pollution? Let’s look at this picture.

(教师展示有关石油污染图片。)


T:   What kind of pollution is it?

Ss: Soil pollution.

T:   That’s right. What causes soil pollution?

S4:  People use too many chemicals in their fields.

T:   So they destroy the soil.

(教师板书,释义并要求学生理解。)

Ss: Litter.

T:   Yes. There’s a pile of rubbish here. It makes our environment dirty.

T:        Yes. Look at the strong and changeable light. It’s bad for eyes.

3. T:   From the pictures, we know pollution is bad for our health in many ways. If there is no pollution on the earth, what will the earth be like?

(板书并讲解。)

T:       Yes. We should protect our planet from now on. OK, let’s read 1a and fill in the blanks with the proper forms of the words and phrases above.

Step 3  Consolidation

完成1b,拓展1a,利用小组讨论的形式,引导学生认识不同污染的危害并提出处理建议。

T: Listen to the tape of 1a, and read after it.

(让学生再读1a,完成1b。)

T: Read 1a again, then fill out the table in 1b.

2. (学生分组讨论。)

T:  There’re so many kinds of pollution around us. How do they effect on our environment or health? And how can we deal with them? Discuss in groups of four.

S1: Air pollution causes sore eyes and breathing problems. We had better pull down the polluting factories.

S2:      Litter makes our environment dirty. We should throw the rubbish into the dustbin.

S3:      Noise pollution can make people deaf. We should make some rules to stop it.

Step 4  Practice

采用对话及练习的方法,巩固2a与2b。

1. (教师通过复习西山的污染来练习2b的句子。)

T: (教师展示Section A,1a中的第二幅图和Section B,1a中的图。)

S1:      There is water pollution. The fish have gone.

S2:      There are several chemical factories pouring waste water into the stream.

S3:      There is noise pollution. Mrs. Zhou can’t sleep well.

T: Oh, my goodness! Does Kangkang still want to have the picnic there?

Ss:      Of course not.

T: Does Mrs. Zhou still want to live there?

Ss:      No, she will manage to leave there.

2. (复习2a,巩固直接引语与间接引语的用法,完成练习。)

Step 5 Project

利用有关污染的图片,开展小组活动,并以“保护环境做绿色使者”为主题设计墙报;课后完成命题作文。

1. (教师收集一些有关污染的图片。让学生描述图片中的污染属于哪一种。然后学生分组讨论污染所带来的影响。做一个各类污染及其危害的墙报,号召人们成为环保人,完成3。)

T: Look at these pictures, and discuss in groups about different kinds of pollution and the harm caused by them. Then make a wall newspaper to call on people to be greener persons.

2. Homework:

 Write an article. The title is “My Ideal School” or “My Ideal City”
