这里作为lead-in要自然引入到health上来，作为warming够了，所以以下的warming-up可以去除，这样有更多的时间处理文本。

二、reading

把lead-in中health引出文本，today, the passage we’ll learn has sth to do with health.

1. Title的处理（总体）

advice是核心词，advice to whom, on what这两个要解决，学生几秒扫读即可。

然后继续扫读，判断文章有几部分组成------letter+ advice

所以可以判断文章主要内容：Grandad wrote a letter to his grandson James to give advice on how to stop smoking.

2.文本分段处理（细节）

Letter部分

Para.1 阅读后，回到刚才lead-in中的health问题，继续追问，Does granddad live a healthy life? How do you know? 让学生找出反映爷爷健康生活的关键信息：

Para.2 阅读后，仍然围绕health, Does grandson James live a healthy life?

学会肯定回答No. 追问：what problem does he have？然后关键词difficult/tough, addicted to也基于文本理解下。

Para.3 阅读后，仍然围绕health展开，How is a smoker addicted to cigarettes?

要问学生有几个方面，学生肯定说出3个方面，为什么？学生就会找信息词first, secondly, lastly。这些词是很重要的，是说明情况，解释现象，陈述理由等的关键词。再回到三个方面，有什么在健康问题上的表现。围绕health要处理physically, mentally这两个关键词。

Para.4 阅读后，继续围绕health, 问：What effects does smoking have on health?

用什么方式说明effects, 学生应该可以回答的giving examples。接下来要处理三个example,这里就要处理中西方文化差异，中国一般谈harmful effects应该是lung cancer之类的，而文中提到怀孕问题、女朋友嫌弃、球队除名，这是西方文化对于一个男孩是重要的东西。说明example这样具有典型性，使得letter更加persuasive，powerful。

Para. 5 阅读后，也要绕到health上去，问What does granddad expect of James?学生应该可以回答出：He expects his grandson to live a healthy life.

Advice部分

这里最好做一个活动让学生做一个劝告戒烟的poster，由两部分组成，harmful effects of smoking +advice on how to stop smoking，利用文本提供的信息。

Summary

文章是围绕health:

Para.1 ------- Grandad has been living a healthy life since he gave up smoking.

Para 2--------Gandson is living an unhealthy life because he is addicted to cigarettes.

Para.3--------Cigarette addiction brings about unhealthy symptoms, feelings, habits, ideas, etc.

Para 4--------Smoking does great harm to health.

Para 5-------- Grandad hopes that his grandson will give up smoking and live a healthy life.

So it is very important to live a healthy life.
