一、反思教学内容

 According to the reading material, based on my general knowledge of the average level of the eighth grader, I think the material fits the students’ reading level quite well.  But at the same time, it’s difficult for them to learn how to  give advice about when to visit a place; Therefore, in my plan here, I’d like to divide the material into the following parts:

u  Reading strategies: Predict the context by watching the video and the pictures given. Guess what we will read about by reading the title and guess the meaning of the word according to the map and the context. Skimming and scanning for the schema and the key structures

u  Some new words : round, mile, from time to time, northwest, southeast

u  Structures: Bring a map because you may want to travel around.

                          Bring your camera so you can take photos of the autumn trees.

                          Take your swimming clothes because you might want to go swimming in the sea.

u  Life education:When is the best time to visit a city or a country mainly depends on the places you see, the things to do,  and the weather.

 

二、反思教学过程

如何通过问题链的设计螺旋递进激发学生的求知欲,打开思维大门,这节课的读前、读中和读后问题的设计:

读前:

Do you like travelling?What will you take when you go travelling?

Let’s enjoy a short video and tell me which country it is!

    Here are some pictures of the US? What can you see in these places? What can we do there?

    When is the best time to visit the US?

读中:

For the writer, when does he think is the best time to the US?

From which paragraph do you get the answer?

 Why does the writer think the best time to the US is any time?

What places does the writer mention in his article?

About these places, when is the best time to go there?

读后:

Why does the writer write this article?

Why did the writer write about these places to introduce the US ?

 

三、反思教学效果

从读前预热advice and reasons到读中寻找opinion and facts到读后对作者写作意图的思考,学生在scanning中透过熟悉文本架构、通过skimming寻找supporting details把作者的opinionfacts结合起来,最后通过对traveling的思考拓展了本模块weather这一话题。

四、教学改进措施

梳理文本结构和话题时忽略了生词教学的巩固问题,需要再强调或巩固运用!

课堂结束前虽然到了下课时间,但也应快速小结,结合板书梳理本节课所学,为输出做好充分准备!
