课题:M7U4 Sharing  Reading: A letter home

一、反思教学内容

The main topic of this unit is “sharing”, whose aim is to cultivate the students’ sense of social responsibility. The reading passage is a letter written by a young volunteer who’s working as a high school teacher inPapua New Guinea. She writes of her experiences as a teacher and on a visit to a student’s village. Through the text, students are expected to learn something about life in some developing countries and increase their understanding of other people.  

二、反思教学过程

The sharing song was played throughout the whole class, which I think is good for the topic.  Students could quickly get the main idea according to the key words. In the discussion section, students were active, giving their opinions. Thus, after the class, students had a better understanding of “sharing”. 

三、反思教学效果

At the beginning of the class, students have difficulty answering the question “What is sharing?” However, after the class, students gave some answers like “sharing is happiness; sharing is improving; sharing is challenging; sharing is understanding; sharing is learning…”,which are out of my expectation. Maybe, in the future they will be more willing to help those in need and be more grateful for what they have. It’s a good point.

四、教学改进措施

The news report is out of date, so I need to advance with the times. The last step is to help the disabled, which is not familiar to most students, so I need to pick topics which are common among students.
