. Lead-in

1. Greeting

  Self-introduce: Show the students a photo of me. My name is Yuan Wangwei. Yuan is my last name and wangwei is my first name. This is my friend: Wang Xiaoyun. And wang is her last name, xiaoyun is her first name.

2. Ask the students to introduce themselves. Write their names on the blackboard. And tell us what are their last names and first names.

. English names

T: who is your English teacher? My English teacher in the university is Paul King. Paul is his first name and King is his last name. His wife is also a teacher in our school. Her name is Helen Smith.

Her first name is Helen and her last name is Smith. (a photo of Paul King and Helen Smith)

According to the Chinese names and the English names above, ask the students to find out the differences between Chinese names and English names.

. Challenges

Make sure the students have got the points. I will prepare 4 challenges to them.

Whole the class will be divided into 2 groups. And there will be a competition between them. The winners will get a small gifts.

Challenge1: Help the names to find their homes. (2a)

Challenge2: Tell me what's his/her first name&last name.

Challenge3: Read 2b, circle the first names and underline.

          Read again and match the names with the telephone numbers.

Challenge4: Work in group of 4, each group will get an information card.

First talk with your partners, then a volunteer will be invited to present in front of the class.
